How to Play

How to Play

Code Breaker is inspired by the classic board game Mastermind! Just like Mastermind, you must guess a secret code made up of four colors, and the quicker you guess the code the higher your score will be! Difficulty can be increased by adding more possible colors and limiting the amount of guesses allowed.

To begin, choose a difficulty. Easy difficulty lets you player with just four colors and you will get 10 chances to guess the code. Medium difficulty adds one new color and lessens your amount of guesses to nine. Hard difficulty has a total of six colors to guess with and you will get only eight guesses! Once you've chosen a difficulty, click on a color at the bottom of the game to start your guess.

After you make a guess, you will be given feedback to the right of your guess. This feedback gives you a hint on how close your guess was to the code.

A red feedback pin means that you have guessed a correct color, but it's not in the right spot. A white feedback pin means that you have guessed a correct color in a correct spot. These feedback pins aren't necessarily in order. For example, the white feedback pin in the example above does not necessarily mean that the first color, Red, is the correct color in the correct spot. It just means that there is one correct color somewhere in the guess.

Once you have guessed the code correct, you may choose to send your score for a prize! While you can play the game as much as you'd like, you can only send one score a day, meaning that you can only get one prize a day. The higher your score, the rarer a prize you might get!

If you're just in it for the prize, and not for the gameplay, you may consider using a Mastermind solver. Since Code Breaker is essentially the same as Mastermind, you can use a solver to play the game for you and help you get the highest score you can. Even when using a solver, we encourage you play a few times for a run with as few guesses as possible.

Prizes

Prizes

The prizes you may get from Code Breaker depend on the score you are submitting. You can submit a score for a prize once per day, with your chance resetting when you rollover.

The amount of Silver Cones you may receive scales with your score. Between 100 and 1000 scores, you may get up to 20 SC. Between 1000 and 2000 scores, you may get between 20 and 150 SC. With scores higher than 2000, you may get up to 175 SC.
